EVC Group introduced a battery storage system of its own production in cooperation with Siemens

EVC Group s.r.o., a well-established development and manufacturing company in the field of lithium battery systems, today, together with the main supplier of the power section and control system, Siemens, s.r.o., introduced an industrial battery storage array (BSAE - battery storage system for electrical energy). The main advantage of the cooperation between the two companies lies in the combination of EVC's experience in using different types of capacities and chemistries of lithium cells and Siemens' multi-faceted inverters.

BSAE's first customer is EVC itself, whose energy storage brings significant savings in the mass production of traction batteries. Unlike the lithium batteries in today's passenger electric vehicles with an average stored energy of between 40-80 kWh, the traction batteries produced at EVC have an energy of over 600 kWh. The BSAE is a big help for us as it allows us to transfer energy between it and the new batteries when they are first charged. Previously, this energy would have been thwarted in the resistors. In light of the current rise in energy prices, this brings considerable monetary savings, as does the possibility of using green energy from the photovoltaic plant on the roof of the company's headquarters", explains Oliver Garaj, EVC's Managing Director. Another potential for more efficient production and greening was outlined by Jan Vejbor, EVC's Sales Manager: 'Another way in which we can meet the European Greendeal policy is the possibility of producing BSAE from existing batteries at the end of their life. We have over 600 of these production systems in operation, with a total energy of several tens of megawatt hours. Often these are public transport vehicle batteries for which a second life in BSAE would be adequate in terms of operating load," he calculates. However, the overall utility value of a BSAE is not determined by its energy, but mainly by its connectivity to other user peripherals, such as renewable energy sources or charging infrastructure. To this end, EVC has teamed up with Siemens. The latter is one of the proven suppliers of battery storage and control systems and charging infrastructure, among others.

"Siemens solutions are conceived as a closed circle from the production of electricity from RES and its storage to the intelligent management of power consumption and production, the so-called "Power Management System". Siemens has a number of deliveries on the Czech market as well as large BSAEs in cooperation with a local manufacturer. In addition, it has the ability to adapt the performance parameters and control of BSAEs to the needs of individual customers, thus expanding the application areas of BSAEs. It can also react quickly to any changes in legislation and commercial use," adds Martin Panáč, battery systems specialist at Siemens.

The wide applicability of Siemens inverters is complemented by EVC's competence to tailor the basic parameters of the BSAE to the customer's needs - thus influencing performance, capacity, but also lifetime and payback. Hulín storage facilities are thus prepared to adapt to customer requirements to the greatest extent possible.

EVC Group s.r.o. was founded in 2007. After initially specializing in the import and sale of electric scooters from China, the company switched to the development and sale of personal electric vehicles by converting existing internal combustion cars. Since 2012, it has abandoned this offer and started to focus fully on the serial production of custom traction batteries, especially for mass transit vehicles from manufacturers operating on the Czech and Slovak markets. To this end, EVC operates its own lithium cell testing laboratories and has direct business relationships with the world's major cell manufacturers. In the autumn of 2022, EVC entered the market with industrial energy storage systems of its own development BSAE, opening up a new sector of stationary batteries. The company has 40 employees and is based in the Zlín region in Hulín.
